Jamie Barker, RN MSN
Executive Director
Hi and Welcome! I am Jamie Barker, RN MSN
As a young girl I knew I wanted to become a nurse, to make a difference in people’s lives. My grandfather’s unwavering belief in me and his strong support fueled my passion and desire to pursue a nursing career. He had a strong work ethic, and I was fortunate enough to have followed in his footsteps in this regard. Growing up on a dairy farm in Almond, Wisconsin, where I graduated high school, I further learned the value of hard work and dedication from my parents and two older brothers.
Family values and tradition are especially important in my large Polish family. I come from a long line of proud farmers and nurses. As an R.N., I am continuing this tradition, striving to be the best that I can be, so I can deliver high quality nursing care to you and your family.
The indirect path I took to become a masters qualified nurse started when I graduated as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. In this role, I helped develop a Wound Care program in a medical clinic. This experience gave me the opportunity to give a presentation at a National Wound Care Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Attending this conference broadened my horizons and I knew I wanted to become a Registered Nurse. I received my associate degree in Nursing from MSTC in Wisconsin Rapids. I then finished my master’s degree in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, with a focus on the College’s Nursing MSN Executive Specialty Track. In this program I learned skills that I have used as a nurse administrator. They will serve me well in my upcoming role.
I have worked in a variety of areas in the nursing field, including surgery, urology, wound care, correctional healthcare, emergency care, and trauma. Working as an Instructor, teaching the future nurses of Wisconsin, has also been an extremely rewarding part of my career path.
I currently live in Wisconsin Rapids with my husband Ed and a very busy 9-year-old daughter. A dog, a cat, a rabbit, and yes, there is also in chicken in the mix, share our humble abode.
I look forward to getting to know you and your family, sharing my passion for nursing with you, and welcoming you to our clinic where we will do everything to make your experience an exceptional one!
